A two day feast of belly dance workshops by local and National teachers plus a multimedia presentation of the cultural background and history of belly dance.
Workshop level varies from beginner to professional in a wide range of topics including basic and not so basic technique, Orientalism and belly dance, Latin fusion, a tribute to Samya Gamal, American Cabaret, American Tribal, a look at the dance of the Ouled Nail; plus performance skills, Middle Eastern rhythms, and safe dance practice.
Two three-hour multimedia presentations trace the influences on modern belly dance from its source in North Africa and the Middle East, and the changes in the last 100 years.
