New Zealand’s five-day premier garden party, the Ellerslie International Flower Show will descend on the garden city of Christchurch for the second consecutive year from 10 – 14 March, 2010.

The Ellerslie International Flower Show is a celebration of gardening, design excellence and the city of Christchurch’s heritage, making it the perfect introduction to this beautiful city.

For the first time in the Show’s 15-year history, Ellerslie will have two international feature gardens in 2010.

Multi award-winning Chelsea Flower Show designer Chris Beardshaw from England will create the Show’s largest ever garden with his 12m x 64m An Englishman’s Retreat on the shores of Victoria Lake, while Japan’s Koji Ninomiya will create Ellerslie’s first traditional Japanese garden.

The two international designers headline a stellar list of garden designers who will be creating almost 100 horticultural exhibits, including 30 display gardens, at this year’s Show.

Christchurch Airport Company Starlight Marquee
Where day turns to night and effective garden lighting comes into play. This year’s displays include an ice garden, an underground garden of fungi, mould and lichen and a garden by last year’s Supreme Award winner Bush Telly.

Floral Art Marquee
A visual feast for visitors, this marquee is where New Zealand’s talented floral artists will this year capture A Moment in Time with their inspirational, artistic floral displays.

Sculpture Garden
Twenty-one New Zealand artists will showcase works, ranging from towering stainless steel kinetic sculptures to barbed wire pieces and ceramic heads, in and around Lake Albert, and suspended in the trees at North Hagley Park.

Hort Galore Marquee
Dedicated to the garden clubs and societies, which are the grassroots of the horticultural industry and the foundation for the success of Ellerslie, this is where you will find a showcase of rare, interesting and special plants.

The Great Ellerslie Photographic Competition
This competition is another way Ellerslie celebrates gardening, garden design and the environment.

Countdown Lifestyle Marquee
Taking the best of seasonal fare from the garden and combining it with the latest new products, head to the garden-themed Lifestyle Marquee for cooking demonstrations and mouth-watering dishes.
