About

Body Festival cancelled due to earthquake damage

The Body Festival board and director last night made the decision to cancel this year's Body Festival, which was to have opened on 24 September, due primarily to concerns over the safety of public and artists following the earthquake in Christchurch on Saturday.

The cancellation covers the entire workshop and performance programme. Body Festival staff, board and performers are now looking ahead to a bigger and better event in 2011.

The popular community workshop series returns to the Christchurch Art Gallery for three weekends during the Body Festival. Shake off winter and get your body moving with a variety of dance styles taught by Christchurch's best dance teachers.

Designed for beginners and conducted in the Art Gallery foyer, this series is the perfect way to explore the world of dance. IN NZ more people dance each week than play rugby and netball combined. Find out why at The Body Festival.

The Body Festival is delighted to partner with the Heart Foundation who will be onsite with information about the Know Your Numbers programme and healthy heart advice.
