About
Body Festival cancelled due to earthquake damage
The Body Festival board and director last night made the decision to cancel this year's Body Festival, which was to have opened on 24 September, due primarily to concerns over the safety of public and artists following the earthquake in Christchurch on Saturday.
The cancellation covers the entire workshop and performance programme. Body Festival staff, board and performers are now looking ahead to a bigger and better event in 2011.
The Dance Project in association with Rangi Ruru Girls’ School presents ‘Nimbus’, a journey into the dreams of one young girl as her world deconstructs before her eyes. From the whimsical to the nightmarish, this series of dances will compel and delight. The production showcases top Christchurch choreographers; Sandy Gray, Fleur de Thier, Sheryl Robinson and Joshua Dickson in a blend of dance genres, from contemporary to classical ballet. With set and costumes designed by Patrick Duffy, ‘Nimbus’ is sure to be a visual and movement feast for the Body Festival 2010.
