The Enterprise Precinct and Innovation Campus (EPIC) is a business hub for 17 hi-tech Christchurch businesses that lost their buildings in the earthquake. Designed to provide affordable space, it is conceived as a greenhouse, a place to help these smaller companies grow. The brainchild of Wil McLellan and Colin Andersen, EPIC was granted a site rent-free for five years by the Christchurch City Council. Although EPIC’s first building, The Sanctuary, was originally conceived, designed and built as a temporary structure, with this area is now designated as the ‘Innovation Precinct’ in the CCDU’s Christchurch Blueprint, perhaps it isn’t so temporary after all!
