About
Christchurch’s creative urban renewal will be generated by experimental art and architecture. In this two-part lecture, notable figures in New Zealand art and architecture each present an innovative project for Christchurch: an architectural installation from the recent past and a sculptural project proposed for the near future. Associate Professor Uwe Rieger talks about LUXCITY, the ephemeral ‘city made from light’, FESTA’s opening event held Labour Weekend. Then artist Julia Morison unveils her Tree House proposal: ten large-scale elements which can be relocated and reconfigured in a variety of combinations responsive to different sites. This sculptural street furniture can be looked at, sat on, occupied, played in or walked through.
