Bad Hair Day

04 Jun to 28 May 2017

A ‘bad hair day’ is one when your hair won’t behave itself, or when everything seems to go wrong. This decidedly eccentric exhibition investigates the changing expressions of hair.

Including many works in which subversive humour has been part of the artist's intention – with a pedigree running from William Hogarth to Leo Bensemann, Ronnie van Hout, Yvonne Todd and Steve Carr Bad Hair Day weaves an unpredictable path through a variety of works and media, including paintings and prints, contemporary sculpture, videos, a wig – and one of our oldest treasures, a 2500-year-old Egyptian portrait.

Christchurch Art Gallery is open 10am - 5pm daily. Late night Wednesday until 9pm.
