Leighs Construction CSO Presents: Discover the Music
Wednesday 10 May 2017
Have you ever wondered how a composer writes for film, what methods they use, what their inspiration is, what part the director plays?
New Zealand born, Los Angeles based composer Mark Smythe writes for film, concert and media scores and has a deep understanding of the power of music to support a story and instil a mood in audiences. In this 2017 season of Discover the Music, Smythe will share some insights into the process of composing for the recently produced travel film Flying South which features the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra’s recording of his score.
In this 50 minute fascinating exploration into the world of film composition, the orchestra will perform Smythe’s scenic score whilst the audience gets the opportunity to watch Flying South on the screen.
