First Thursdays Chch: DREAMSCAPES

Thursday 03 Aug

Join us in Sydenham this August for a whimsical winter warmer -  First Thursdays Chch presents DREAMSCAPES. A one night only event of free arts and entertainment. Combining art, exhibitions, live music, poetry, projection, night markets and more, there's something for everyone!

Art galleries and shops from The Colombo to The Drawing Room and throughout Sydenham will be open late, hosting pop up exhibitions featuring work by local and national artists.  Our famous night market at The Colombo will have an array of goodies for purchase and perusal, accompanied by live music and fabulous food.

With a dollop of surrealism and a pinch of psychedelia, DREAMSCAPES invites you to let your imagination loose. Bright and bold new works will be on show by Mark Catley, Janna van Hasselt and Josh Bradshaw A.K.A Uncle Harold.  We’ll be joined by Faultline Poetry collectiveThe NationalThe Busy FinchThe Ara Institute Collective, the resident artists of XCHC as well as artist run spaces Where?, Gallery 464 and Ōtautahi Kōrerotia.

Roam around Sydenham and see it through new eyes: expect collaborations and partnerships as local businesses host creatives from all around the city to make Sydenham a space brimming creative imagination.

Whether you’re an arts advocate or have never set foot in a gallery; rug up and come on out to support and celebrate the arts and local businesses in Sydenham!
