To the Tideline - Ceramic Exhibition by Kate McIntyre
06 Sep to 26 Sep
Kate McIntyre has been working predominantly in ceramics since completing a Bachelor of Design in 2009. Kate’s current work is inspired by patterns and structures found in nature. Her interest in the natural world stems not only from the beautiful forms and intricate patterns, but also from the efficient and economical use of material. Kate is interested in the intersection of technology and craft. By combining both traditional handcraft techniques along with computer aided design, she is able to retain the importance of material knowledge and the process of making by hand, while exploring how the use of technology can impact on the creative process and outcomes. It is this balance between the two modes of making that continues to drive her practice.
In 2015, Kate was awarded an Artist in Residency at the European Ceramic WorkCentre in the Netherlands. Her work 'Fragment' was a finalist in last year's Portage Ceramic Awards and was also selected to be featured on the cover of the catalogue. Fragment is a work that was completed during the final weeks of her residency.Form Gallery will be holding a solo exhibition of Kate McIntyre’s latest work through the month of September; we would like to warmly invite you all to the exhibition opening for “To the Tideline”, which will commence at Form Gallery at 5:30pm on Wednesday the 6th of September. As with all of our exhibitions, this show will run for approximately three weeks - concluding on the 26th of September.
