The 2012 RaboDirect Elite Road Cycling Nationals is the hottest event on the New Zealand cycling calendar! Hosted by Christchurch for the third year in a row, this event will see New Zealand’s top road cyclists flock to the Garden City in the hunt for the national jersey. Pro Rider Hayden Roulston triumphed in 2011, but will face tough competition in 2012. With Bauer, Dean, Henderson, Sergent, PureBlack Racing, Subway Pro Cycling, this is the who’s who of New Zealand cycling.

The women’s race is also hotly contested with a stunning solo performance by Catherine Cheatley in 2011. The girls will be back with a vengeance to show what they’re made of on the Saturday.

On a highly competitive course, this is always a fantastic race and an even better party! Dyers Pass hill is the place to be to soak up the atmosphere. Lined by thousands of spectators it’s party central, with music pumping, food and the best vantage point to watch the race unfold as the riders suffer up the mighty climb.

If spills are more your thing, the intersection at the bottom of Hackthorne Road will be the most promising spot as the riders fly down the hill and tackle the sharp corner at the bottom.
