Having earned high-praise for their second Loft Series performance at Q (Lightbox, including the premiere of Karlo Margetic’s titular work), New Zealand’s foremost piano trio NZTrio will mark their return from a tour of Asia with a final tour of the country throughout October 2012.
Art3 sees the trio perform in visual art spaces, bringing their brand of intimate-yet-dynamic classical music to unexpected venues; from art galleries to small churches. “Hearing beautiful and evocative music played live by the country’s leading musicians in inspiring surroundings lifts the audience experience to another level” says NZTrio’s manager Vanessa Zigliani.
Art3’s programme will allow local audiences to be transported by the sultry sounds of Spain with Joachim Turina’s Piano Trio No. 2, then treated to some high energy, cutting edge new works from Australia and New Zealand composers, before delving into the romantic, bohemian world of Antonin Dvořák.
Joachim Turina (Spain): Piano Trio No. 2 in b minor, Opus 76
Gordon Kerry (Australia): Im Winde
Alex Taylor (NZ): burlesque mecaniques
