New Year's Eve returns to North Hagley Park to cram some literally last-minute thrills into 2012 and welcome 2013 in the toe-tapping style that Christchurch has become accustomed to.
This alcohol-free celebration has something for the whole family. Entertainment from 6.30pm to 8pm caters to families with younger children, while the second half, from 9pm to 12.30am, includes entertainment for all ages.
From 9pm rock cover band New Entrants will let you rock out to all the latest hits, plus golden oldies from the likes of Elvis, the Blues Brothers, Bon Jovi and Van Halen.
Christchurch legendary Celtic rockers, The Black Velvet Band, will have you stomping your feet from 10pm. Be sure you don't miss their high-energy performance of traditional and contemporary Celtic songs plus fresh interpretations of other old favourites.
New Entrants will return at 11.15pm to sweep you through to midnight and beyond, hyping the crowd and leading the countdown to 2013.
At midnight, fireworks will blast off from Lake Victoria and while the Lone Piper plays, you'll have the chance to join hands with your family, your friends and whoever's nearest, as the crowd sings Auld Lang Syne.
By 1 January, you'll be counting down the days to 2014 so you can do it all again.
