It is a 106km adventure ride through some of the South Islands awesome sub alpine high country finishing in the Hanmer domain.

The ride takes you over Island Saddle (alt. 1365). At this height the weather can change very quickly and dramatically.

First held in 1996 with 66 starters. In 2001 a new record of 1604 entries was received. The finish area is the Hanmer Springs Domain and the prize giving will be held at 6.30pm.
