2011 IPC Athletics World Championships - Be Inspired!

The best Paralympic athletes in the world will descend upon Christchurch in a bid to win a World Championships gold medal and to qualify for the 2012 London Paralympic Games.

Be prepared to marvel at the strength, stamina, speed and explosion of the world's elite Paralympic athletes. Over 1,200 athletes representing more than 70 countries will compete at Christchurch's QEII Stadium, site of the 1974 Commonwealth Games, for the honour of being crowned a World Champion. See the stars of Beijing and New Delhi as they run, throw and jump their way to the London Paralympic Games in 2012.

Following the Official Opening Ceremony in Cathedral Square on Friday 21st Janaury 2011, the athletes will take to the track and infield at QEII Stadium. Established stars such as South Africa's Oscar Pistorius and New Zealand's own Kate Horan are likely to take centre stage. Each day features finals and is packed with events. With a full range of events from shot-put to high jump, 100m to marathon, there is something to inspire and excite every sports fan!
