Quake Update - The latest information on the current status, remedial/restoration work progress and completion timeline required to bring Isaac Theatre Royal back to full recovery post-quake has unfortunately been further delayed due to our ongoing location in the middle of the CBD red zone cordon. There will be an extended delay in our plans for re-opening, which is now estimated to be sometime in January 2013.
Formerly known as the Theatre Royal, this 'Grand Old Lady' recently (2005) had a major re-development both backstage and front of house.
The Isaac Theatre Royal, Christchurch is a superb and beautiful restored and redeveloped Historic Edwardian Heritage Theatre with 1266 seats over three levels. The Theatre is the Christchurch home to many of the national performing arts companies of New Zealand and is the preferred venue in the city for International touring acts, musicals, music concerts, recitals, community and school events as well as children's theatre.
With World class production facilities, the Isaac Theatre Royal is quite simply the most prestigious, iconic and spectacular performance venue in Christchurch.
