QEII Park & Recreation Centre

Discover QEII Park, an impressive multi-sport and leisure complex, featuring Australasia's largest aquatic facility. The themed leisure pool, opened in August 2002, is an unrivalled water fantasy world , fantastic for family entertainment. QEII Park was built specifically for the 1974 Commonwealth Games and is an icon of Christchurch and New Zealand. Today the facility caters for family recreation through to elite sport performance and development.

As well as indoor facilities there is an international 400 metre all-weather athletic track with a new mondo track surface. The stadium has a 15,000 seating capacity, making it a premier athletic venue, and concert or event venue

The Aquatic facility includes a 40m wave pool, lazy river and children's playzone with interactive water toy features and a Teach Pool. Spa, Sauna, and café facilities are also available poolside. For competitive swimming or swim training there is a 50m International size 10 lane pool. In addition to this there is a 25m pool & teach pool and 30m dive well with a range of dive towers. QEII also has a modern fitness centre and aerobic studio, squash courts, an athletic stadium with mondo track, Village Green with a first class cricket wicket and other sports grounds.

At QEII Park you will also find Active Health medical centre, QEII Clinical massage, Team Gym for sports teams and academies and the QEII swim shop.

Opening Times:

Leisure Pool
The Leisure Pool includes a wave pool, children’s play zone, spa, steam and sauna.
For the safety of all patrons, children aged 5 - 8 must be accompanied by an adult at least 16 years. Children under 5 must have an adult with them in the water.

Monday - Friday 6:00am - 9:00pm
Weekends & Public Holidays 7.00am - 8.00pm

Surf the Waves
At QEII don’t bring your boards it is body surfing only. The waves crash to shore every half hour for 10 minutes between the following times.

Weekdays: 3.30pm - 9.00pm
Weekends & Public Holidays: 10.00am - 8.00pm
School Holiday weekdays: 10.00am - 9.00pm

25 metre Pool
Public lane swimming available in training pool Monday to Friday from 6am-9am. During school term time pool open for lane swimming for all ages on Saturdays from 2.30-4.30pm

50 metre Pool
Public lane swimming and aquajogging available at all times in the 50 metre 10 lane pool subject to events and bookings. Lane swimming and aquajogging will be held in the dive well if the 50 metre pool is booked for an event. There is no recreational swimming in the 50 metre pool.

Monday - Friday 6.00am – 9.00pm
The pool will be set as 50 metres all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday until 1pm. Outside these times the pool will be set up as two 25 metre pools.

Weekends and Public Holidays
7.00am – 8.00pm Training Pool Monday – Friday (lane swimming)
6.00am - 9.00am Canoe Sessions (Normal pool admission) applies

Monday in the Dive well 8.30pm - 9.30pm Thursday in the training pool 8.30pm - 9.30pm (Canoe hire $3.00 per canoe, groups can be booked when space available).

Dive Boards & Towers
Dive boards and towers are open for public diving on Saturdays and Sundays from 1.00pm - 5.00pm. (Subject to change)

Monday - Friday 6.00am - 9.00pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 7.00am - 6.00pm

Swim Shop
Monday – Friday 8.00am - 9.00pm
Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays 9.00am - 7.00pm
